Start Information

Structure

After solving each of the nine main puzzles, teams would receive a packet of photos that would lead them to the next location. After solving the ninth puzzle, they were led back to the beginning where they were given a Confession Letter and nine new puzzles, collectively known as Echoes. Solving the Echoes gave teams the information needed to solve the meta. After verifying the meta solution, they received to the Ransom Note puzzle which, when solved, led them to the final location.

Explanation of Scoring:

Each main puzzle was worth 1 point and each echo was worth 1/3 point. The meta and the ransom note were each worth 1.5 points. Taking a hint on a puzzle reduced its value by half.

The highest possible score was 15 points achieved by solving all 9 main puzzles (9 points), all 9 echoes (3 points), the meta (1.5 points) and the ransom note (1.5 points). Finish time was only used as a tiebreaker.

During the chaos of the endgame, we failed to record finish times for most teams and so ended up using the event end time of 6:25PM. This resulted in there being a few ties, but it should have a negligible impact on the overall standings.
